A Message from Our Founder
Nqobile Nompumelelo Mnisi

The journey to becoming a psychologist in South Africa is long, competitive, and often isolating. Many aspiring psychologists face limited guidance, gatekept information, and a lack of mentorship, making it even harder to navigate this field successfully.
Phapano was born out of what I wish I had during my journey, a space where psychology students can access information, mentorship, and career support without barriers. I know firsthand how difficult it is to pursue this career without guidance, and I want to ensure that those who come after me have an easier, more informed path.
I resonate deeply with Mahatma Gandhi’s words: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” To me, true fulfilment doesn’t lie in personal achievements alone but in empowering others to achieve their dreams.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
Help us continue empowering future psychologists.
Phapano supports psychology students through free mentorship, workshops, and access to opportunities that many would not otherwise receive. Your donation helps us continue this work and grow our reach. In the future, we aim to provide direct financial support to students who cannot afford to complete their studies.
Every contribution brings us closer to that goal and helps change the face of mental health care in South Africa.
